What is Dad Strength?

You might know dad strength through the incredible (and mysterious) strength that otherwise non-assuming dads possess. Speed and reflexes may change but dad strength remains. Part of this comes from wisdom and experience. Part of it is stubbornness, dammit! But there's more...

Here, dad strength is also about finding your own unique strengths – as a father, partner, and human. It isn't a paint-by-number project; it's about becoming more yourself by living intentionally – and transforming your values into action.

This is important personal work – and it can be incredibly helpful to both offer and access peer support along the way.

Who's running this thing?

My name is Geoff Girvitz. I'm a writer with deep expertise in health and fitness. I created Dad Strength as a way to amplify the incredible wisdom that other dads have to share.

To me, community is a place where people can offer support AND accept support when they need it. Dad Strength is positive, action-oriented, and solutions-focused space. We want to bring out the best in you.

We do that through a newsletter a sometimes podcast, and weekly group calls (on Zoom). Dad Strength also hosts periodic dinners, retreats and events.

I founded Bang Personal Training in 2008 and started Dad Strength in 2021. I've worked with Thrive Global, Precision Nutrition, and Dr. BJ Fogg (and his Behaviour Design Lab at Stanford University), and I've written for The Globe and Mail, AskMen, and Precision Nutrition.

I've appeared in (or maybe on) Vice, GQ,, the BBC, The Agenda, and The Nature of Things.

I live in Toronto with my partner, Stephanie, and our son – who is, quite frankly, full of beans.

Would you benefit from regular conversations about parenting, health, and doing work that matters?
